ABOUT FBS

Faculty of Basic Sciences has three working departments; namely, Applied Mathematics, Chemistry, and Geology offering different programs and courses at graduate and undergraduate levels in different majors. The Department of Applied Mathematics started at Islamic Azad University, Khorasgan Branch, first in 1989, by establishing one undergraduate program; namely, Applied Mathematics. Further development came in 2007, by offering an MS program in Numerical Analysis, followed by another MS program in Operation Research in 2012.  The Department of Applied Mathematics has 12 faculty members teaching to 133 students (36 BS students, 97 MS students) and more than 1000 students have been graduated from this department so far.

The Department of Chemistry started at Islamic Azad University, Khorasgan Branch, first in 2010, by establishing an undergraduate program; namely, Environmental Chemistry. The Department of Chemistry has 6 faculty members teaching to 60 students.

The Department of Geology started at Islamic Azad University, Khorasgan Branch, first in 1990, by establishing one undergraduate program; namely, Geology. Further development came in 2006, by offering MS programs in Geological Remote Sensing, Petrology, Sedimentology and Sedimentary Petrology, and Stratigraphy. The Department of Geology has 9 faculty members teaching to 246 students (131 BS students, 115 MS students) and more than 1000 students have been graduated from this department so far.

The faculty offices and classrooms reside in Panzdah-e-Khordad Building of Basic Sciences. At the present time, 27 faculty members and instructors teach at the Faculty of Basic Sciences. FBS is equipped with laboratories, units, centers, and computer sites. FBS offers courses to more than 430 students at different levels.
